The magician askes the audience to place a cube which has six different paterns int the X-Ray box and not the image on the top of the cube facing the spectator. The magician then asks the spectator to cover the box with the lid – all this is done without the magician seeing what the top image is. The Magician is then magically able to read the spectators mind and tell the audience which image the top image is
